I can only speak from experience, but when I was using I regularly heard voices in my head, at first it freaked me out, then after a coupla years of putting up with it I gave up the drugs. Guess what?….no more voices since, and its been over 20 yuears since I quit that dum a.r.se. habit.

In my experience, drug use is prevalent. It is a form of self-medication. Unfortunately it tends to exacerbate the problem. Doctor prescribed medications are the best course of action because they are regulated and can be adapted to your specific needs. And don’t forget, the drug you mention is a gate-way drug. It will only lead to a path of destruction.

I have seen no statistics, but in my experience a manic person is more likely to use alcohol than any cannabis.

I don’t know the “statistics” but it is well known that people with bipolar disease are much more likely to use alcohol and drugs of abuse than people without bipolar disease.
