I’m writing a speech, and I need some statistics about drug and drug use. Some statistics I need are:
-Amount of federal and state tax dollars spent in 2005 for the “War on drugs,” and the average amount spent per year since 2000
-Number of people who are incarcerated in the prison systems each year for drug offenses
-Statistical change in the number of known drug users over the last 10 or 20 years
-Number of drug-related crimes committed in Canada

I am dating someone who I just recently found out used to have a cocaine habit. What should I do?

We’ve been dating for 6 months now and about 2 months ago I recently found out through an ex of his that he was a frequent user of cocaine which led to their split because they both were on it. Of course this was so shocking to me and it was such a blow to my stomach. When I found out I felt betrayed, so I began to look up symptom’s of cocaine use before confronting him. As I read various articles on cocaine I couldn’t believe I was actually dating someone with such a habit. But it did answer a lot of questions I had about our relationship, such as our sex life was irregular and I thought he just simply wasn’t attracted to me or cheating not knowing that losing interest in sex as well as many other things was a side effect. Then I started to realize that he always blew his nose a lot but claimed he never had a cold. Another side effect called “draining.” All these things began to add up and I felt so crushed because I would have never known had I not ran into his ex girlfriend. With that said I approached him about the info I had found out and he said it was an old habit that he left behind and he no longer was involved in those type of things. Like a dummy I wanted to believe it so bad so I went along with it. Two months have passed and our sex life is non existant and that’s the only thing that would lead me to believe he is back on his old habits. I know I should let this relationship go, that is not the problem. The problem is how do I let him know I don’t want to be involved with him anymore and not cause him to turn to the drug even more or heavier if he’s using? I know I can’t control his actions regardless but I just want to get out and not be the cause of him turning or relying heavily on his old habit.
Thanks for everyone’s responses…I appreciate them all. Just to shed a little more detail on the situation. He was with his ex girlfriend for 3 years. He left her because they could never keep any money in the house between the two of them. How the conversation came about was that she told me as if I already knew as if I were just a new girlfriend that he did blow with. And when she said it, her response was: “You didn’t know? Girl please why do you think he’s never home during nights and he comes in at 3am in the morning?” The funny thing about it is that she lives in Mississippi and knew him like a book. At the beginning of our relationship that’s exactly what he did. When I confronted him about it he assured me that he’d let me know if he need help and I laughed like “Yeah right!” But he said that was the reason why he left her. The only symptoms I see now is that he rubs his nose a lot and we have no sex at all. None. He’s not on anti-depressants at all.

i’ve known one of my friends has been using heroin, along with many other drugs for years now. i’ve been trying, and will continue to, try to get him to quit.
but i talked to him earlier and he said “my arm hurts like f****ing hell” he also said it looked “bruised and s***”
is his vein collapsed? is it life threatening?
whatever you think it might be and some symptoms, so i can try to figure this out, get this out of the way and try to talk some sense into his thick skull.

There’s a contest being held for the best ameteur writing. The subject is medical mystery (ala “House.”) In fact, we’re being encouraged to use the charachters and settings from House if we choose.
I want to try my hand. I’m thinking a story revolving around an Amish girl around 9 years old who begins exhibiting symptoms very much like that of a person high on LSD. BUT the kicker is, she is halucinating that Satan or the Devil is tormenting her.. The Salem Witch Trials will be referred to heavily. The final diagnosis will be ergot poisioning (one of the things that people say could have been causing all the weirdness in Salem 1692).. ERgot poisioning is from a particular mold that can grow on Rye in the wrong kind of weather. I have a few questions I could use some help witih, esp from people who know alot about Amish.
#1. What are their “rules” about accepting medical treatment
#2. How would a quiet amish community react to a girl wildly claiming that the Devil or Satan is tormenting her (poking her, telling her to “join his cause” hurting her.) According to t heir beliefs, what would they think?
#3.. What would be a way that one little girl would she be exposed to rye that no one else was exposed to?
#4.. Any other ideas of “red herrings” That would make the medical team miss the bad rye?

what do the Amish believe about Satan or the Devil
Do the Amish believe in Fasting?? I just got the idea that maybe she was exposed to the Rye because her family was on a fast and she was supposed to do it too, but she cheated and ate some rye a nearby farmer (maybe even her father) was growing that had gotten wet and been left in the feild as “ruined”.
What are the chances of getting pregnant while on the pill and using other methods of contraception?

Hi, I’m really hoping I can get some positive and informative feedback off all you Yahooers! My boyfriend and I had sex earlier this month(not the first time). I am on the pill and he used a condom. He was also forced to withdraw before he ejaculated due to an interruption. I was at my least fertile time of month. Lately I havn’t been feeling great. My symptoms are synonomous with my pms symptoms. I’m just wondering what are the chances that I could be pregnant? I know there is always a chance but the condom didn’t break and I have been religious in taking my pill. Thanks!
