My Best Friend Has Done A Complete 360 In The Past 2 Weeks… I Think She Is Using Heroin Again?

Filed in Category Symptoms of Heroin Use

Im so sad, I feel like i’m losing my best friend shes like a sister to me…
She has been coming into work extremely late everyday saying she has a terrible migraine headache and that she thinks she has the flu or something.. She keeps losing her voice and her pupils are the size of pin drops. everytime i start to talk to her about anything like how day has been… she starts talking right over me or trys to finish my sentences..It’s really strange. Also her face has been breaking out really badly. Shes starting to almost look unrecognizable at least to me. I cant tell anyone because I wouldnt want her not to trust me. She also kinda had a drinking problem upto about 2 weeks ago. Then she just stopped her daily routine of drinking. Is it because she is substituting it with heroin now? Ive never been around heroin users so I dont know what to look for??? I even confronted her about it very carfully. and she flipped out on me. She has also been hanging out with some very random and strange people.. When before she and I were like inseperable. (until 2 weeks ago). She stopped calling me talking to me hanging out with me.. We were even suppose to be moving into our own place next week, (which we both already signed a year lease, then out of nowhere she tells me she cancelled the whole move). She used to be an addict before i knew her. I want to help her but I feel like there is nothing I can do.. I feel totally helpless.. I miss my friend… :*(

when ever i’ve relapsed, i’ve had all those symptoms. calling in sick to work or going in late because i’ve been up all night. my normally clear skin starts breaking out. i stop calling people. i sit at my desk all day instead of sociallizing. when you use heroin and stop, you get sick. that’s the flu symptoms she’s talking about.
if she cancelled the move, it sounds like she’s returned to the lifestyle. I would maybe say, “I’ve noticed these things about you and concerned.” call her out on it because she may not see how it’s affecting her life, again. if she doesn’t listen, I would steer clear of her and let her decisions run their course. there’s not much you can say to an addict. But, if/when she does decide to get sober, she’s going to need friends to hang out with who don’t use.

It could be a number of things. Maybe meth.
BUT its called a 180. If she did a 360 then should have gone all the way back around and is back to how she was originally. 180 means she is has turned around and is going in the opposite direction.

I dont think that there is a lot that you can do. I’m sorry you’re going through this! How awful. Go to a website maybe, and look for signs about heroin users, see if her behaviour is like people who are using? Talk to someone else at work maybe — in confidence? Someone you can trust not to say anything? Maybe also, you need to just be firm and tell her what you’re thinking and ask her to explain herself. If you are close, then she will understand, in the end. She might flip out again, but at least you are showing you care? Good luck!!
