Local Paper Says Study On Marijuana Triggers Psychotic Symptoms, Where’s The Study For Cigs And Alcohol Effect

Filed in Category Symptoms of Marijuana Use

in local newspaper I read where British doctors did brains scans on volunteers given small doses of two of the active ingredients of cannabis and says its triggers psychotic symptoms, (newspaper didn’t say anything about scans after they smoked the marijuana) doses of CBD and THC and smoking the weed are not the same. But the doctors says marijuana causes psychotic symptoms, where are the studies that compart marijuana effects with what smoking tobacco, and what alcohol does to u. What psychotic symptoms is tobacco and alcohol have?

Interesting that the study as reported did not give any details on dose size, dosage method, whether or not the subjects had any prior experience with THC consumption, etc. etc. They specifically mentioned paranoia, presumably as a “psychotic” symptom, but completely neglected the fact that paranoia, especially in new users, is a rather common side effect, short lived and with no bearing on mental health overall. In addition, nothing was mentioned regarding who or what organization funded this study. So-called “scientific” studies are rather like statistics – you can read into them pretty much what you want to hear, and design them to prove what you want.
Here’s another study you might enjoy reading that showed quite the opposite results from similar testing.
    Excerpt:
“Most recently, a large-scale study by investigators at London’s Institute of Psychiatry reported that those patients diagnosed with schizophrenia who had previously used cannabis did not demonstrate exacerbated symptoms of the illness compared to age-adjusted controls who had not used cannabis. “This [finding] argues against a distinct schizophrenia-like psychosis caused by cannabis,” they concluded. ”

Who cares what other people think, if you like getting stoned then good for you. Nothing worse than some idiot telling you you’re a loser because you smoke weed, while they are probably puffing on a cigarette or drinking a beer…
Pot is literally one of the safest drugs you could possibly consume, a person would have to smoke 400,000 joints in 5 minutes to have an overdose…
