The addiction itself is actually more harmful to an individual’s psyche than the effects of the drugs on brain tissue. When people become addicted to drugs (any, whether it be crack or caffeine), in the back of the mind is a sort of pleasure trigger. The drug brings back feelings of pleasure that allured the individual to the drug over and over again, hence the addiction.
People that recover from drug addiction often will develop a variety of problems such as OCD or borderline personality disorder. Even though they no longer have the desire to use the drugs, the weaning of the brain from severe addiction can have long-term psychological effects.
Damage caused to neurons by drug abuse have been known to cause significant learning disabilities and slower thought. The stereotypical crack addict may have slurred speech, slow reaction time, and problems with memory;all of these are a result of permanent brain damage which are carried over post-addiction.
Wow, don’t know much about crack or the long term affects but I am almost positive they aren’t going to be good affects. I’m guessing there would be long term psychological effects, what they are… maybe they should get some professional help there, Y!A probably isn’t the place for that.
Deficient spelling is a sure sign.
