I smoked weed reasonably regularly for about 4 months. Around the 3rd or 4th of Jan, I had a very bad high on weed and had a panic attack, I have since stopped smoking. Its been about a week now, I dont have major panic attacks, but I have a lot of fleeting anxieties, and often feel disconnected from family friends, things around me, and sometimes even myself, I also feel overly alert. I often worry whether I have done some kind of permanent damage to my brain, and am scared that maybe I might have set myself up to go insane. I am very worried.
First question is, are these relatively common symptoms? Secondly, about how long should I expect them to last?
P.S- I am a bit of a hyponchondriac… I know this. Thank you.

I’m sorry i don’t know much on the subject, but i just wanted to say well done for trying and try your best to stick with it, have you tried that frank website??
The substance is in the fatty tissues of your body and I am afraid can take up to three months for it to disperse completely.
Exercise, if you can manage it will speed up your metabolism and speed up the process for you.
I hope the permanent damage is to put you off this substance. The sort which is being grown for dealers to sell is a fast growing variant and it is not the same as was grown which was mild and gave a calming effect as a result. They do not care, so long as they get your money.
As a hash smoker for the last 28 years I have a few times where I havn`t had a thing but never had a problem,,you can`t contribute your emotions directly to what you smoked without proof that it was that,it could be anything that brings o your present feelings, the resinous oils will stay in the body for no longer than 4 months, although if you have long hair it will be detectable for up to 6 months through hair analysis
Any feelings you have now will be due to other things as the THC chemical will have all but dispersed from your body
I have never heard of that being a withdrawal symptom from stopping smoking. I don’t know anyone who’s ever had a panic attack. Sorry I can’t help you. My pot head friends (whose withdrawal symptoms all included loss of appetite and loss of sleep) would probably suggest smoking more pot.
Go and visit a doctor, the fact you’ve been smoking drugs isn’t an issue, they will try and help you cope. But you need to be honest with them.
No idea if your in the UK or not, i’m not sure what i’d do if you are american as i don’t understand that health care system.
The NHS will support you. if not a doctor then a drugs clinic or local nurse.
I’m directing you to a doctor because i’m not one – i also highly doubt the others here have degrees in medicine
I heavily advise to go see somebody who knows about this.
ok Ive never heard of “withdrawing” from weed. Seriously, Im not trying to be rude, but maybe its a mental addiction to weed. Ive never ever heard of being physically addicted to weed ( its all in your head, dude.). Try to stop thinking about it so much. That’s the only advice I have…………
it sounds like you’re just talking yourself into these symptoms. marijuana does not cause damage and the withdrawal period, if you can even call it that, usually involves some tiredness and mild irritability and last at most 2-3 weeks.
I’ve been smoking it for over forty years now, during which time I’ve stopped whenever I’ve felt like it. Look for the real reason for your problem, if you actually have one. You admit to hypochondria!
Like all drugs the urge to re-use will return from time to time. In all probability you will never entirely lose the urge because of implanted memory from the time when you were a regular user.
I get like that, its just a case of exstream anxioty and being paranoid. As soon as you forget about these symptoms the soonier they will go away x
sometimes for weeks and you can even get the cravings on and off for months afterwards. just dont give into it
its because hes coming after you. id be careful. always keep a look out.
It probably is true that you have done something to your brain; my friend who i live with is exactly the same and as soon as he trys to stop, he is a d!ck towards everyone so we kinda prefer him smoking it; lol. You’ll also have MAJOR paranoia from it but i doubt that will even go away.
I smoke weed but not as much as a lot of people and i have major paranoia as it is, never mind the weed adding more
Basically, the symptoms will last as long as you want them to. You’re the only one who can help you so as soon as you pick yourself up and keep going, you’ll start to see yourself getting better but i doubt you’ll even get your brain cells back if you smoked regularly.
do you think it would be possible that weed relaxes you and you have used it so often recently that you’ve gotten used to that feeling? now that you no longer have that chemical to relax you the normal things in life seem more chaotic?
i would guess that these feelings will pass – don’t smoke more pot, like these other people said. if you are truly scared that you may have caused serious damage – call a drug therapy center and ask them. they are professionals – you aren’t doing it anymore and so you won’t get in any sort of trouble. not that you would if were still using, but it’s just something you won’t have to worry about if you do decide to call. they’ll know a lot more than any of us do.
Hey man,ive smoked weed for 9 years now and it pretty much ruined my life.I was depressed for 6 years and didnt even know it.I thought it was the weed but the weed was only a part of the problem. It had dragged me deep into depression my head was totaly fcuked.Just by chance i saw some videos on you tube and they helped me to beat the depression.Ive had panic attacks on weed before and they arent nice it feels like your going to die or it feels like your dieing until i wares off and you realise it was just the affects of the drug. When i dont smoke it i feel fine its only when i smoke it it makes me feel paranoid. It affects people in different ways. The weed makes you into a hyponchondriac its paranoia from the weed ive experienced this too.
Just stop smoking it now while you havent been on it for long or you will end up like i did deep into depression with no life
they will last until you smoke more weed. Its permanent now! Damage is done, bud. Might as well just buck up little camper and chief up! Get yourself some nice bud and smoke some of it—-those nasty old withdrawal symptoms will be a distant memory in just a few minutes, i promise you!
