When someone is using, and is on the downside of the high, can they or do they sleep for days without being aware of being asleep for as much as 3 days, not waking up for food, or even to use the bathroom? Also, if givin an “on the job” drug test (whatever it is they do on the spot), will it show heroin use?

Heroin will show up in a drug test. They can sleep for prolonged periods but most of them will need to get their daily fix. Tracks on the arms are the most tale tell sign, but lots of addicts shoot up through their legs and feet.
See Trainspotting it is a film with main characters who use heroin.

I’m a nurse. Yes people tend to sleep, but they don’t realize they are close to death. You see with heroin it’s a downer drug and can have a person fall asleep and slip into a coma, stop breathing and die. If a drug test is given it will show up. From urine to a blood test yes. Now if the person is only given a urine test, their so many drinks OTC can one can take and have a clean urine after drinking this for up to 5 hours. This is a very serious drug and is one of the hardest drugs to kick. This person plainly needs help and your support. Offer assistance before it’s too late. Take care.
they will sleep alot and at time they will stay busy cleaning and stuff. it will show on the test too. other signs might be that they are not being to careful with thier hygene
When someone has had a sufficient dosage, or from an hour to two hours after injecting “smack” (heroin) he might “nod out” (literally fall in and out of a sleeping state) in the middle of a conversation or even while driving. Addicts refer to this as being “on the nod.” It is not uncommon for heroin addicts to “nod out” while smoking a cigarette and subsequently suffer burns on their fingers where they were holding the cigarette. In the same way they often burn holes in their clothing or in the furniture where they are sitting or lying. Those are a couple of the physical signs that might identify a heroin user.
It will definately show up on a drug test.
Yeah, they nod out after use. It takes about 72 hours for your body to clear out traces of heroin. (From what I understand.)
They will sleep alot because they may have been up for days using or they are sleeping to not use or because they cant get any & are sick.Of course it will show up in a drug test.
maybe needle marks on their arm.
Social withdrawal is one of the sign of drug abuse.
