My friend smokes weed about 4 times a week and has chestcold symptoms such as coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, and mild headaches. He’s seeing a doctor. Can the doctor detect use of marijuana without urine samples?

Jesus stop being paranoid stoners. Even if he says he smokes weed the doctor can’t go out and like call the police. It’s all confidential. He should just say he smokes cigarettes
A chest cold + being a smoker.
Considering he specifically has a chest cold, smoking anything may be detected by a total combination of the following:
What symptoms he has.
The severity of those symptoms.
How long he’s had the symptoms.
When his breathing sounds are checked with a stethoscope.
So when he’s asked if he smokes (meaning cigarettes) and how much he smokes, he should say that he does smoke, and that he smokes about 3/4 of a pack a day.
That should be more than enough to cover his butt.
Your “friend” has nothing to worry about. Except maybe a cold.
That is not enough pot use to cause those symptoms.
Besides the can’t take a urine test without your permission. Even if the doctor did a urine test he wouldn’t be looking for pot.
On the other hand feel free to talk to your doctor about your pot use he will give you a objective, science based viewpoint and you might learn something. It is strictly confidential so he can’t tell your mom.
Without a drug test (urine, blood, hair) a doctor can not determine marijuana use. But, if you have a chest cold and are going to the doctor, just tell him. In order for him to give a better diagnoses, he should know. He’s not going to report you to the police (I don’t think he legally can report you anyway).
I think Marijuana takes a month to leave your system though trace is always left in a strand of hair if you hanvt cut it since you last smoked. i dont think he can know of use without a urine sample. He may be able to detect that he smokes but not whether its marijuana or just tobacco
if he’s seeing a doctor for a chestcold then their is no need for the doctors to drug test him. They’ll probably ask if he smokes but you can just lie about that, and plus weed didnt cause the chest cold if thats what your thinking.
Only through urine, blood or hair drug tests.
